Write a job vacancy that attracts the right candidates
A clear, inclusive and accurate vacancy helps candidates understand the role and enables the employer to receive more relevant applications.
01Respect non-discrimination
The vacancy must focus on the professional requirements of the role and comply with the applicable regulations.
- Do not select candidates on origin, sex, age, disability, family situation, beliefs or opinions.
- Use an inclusive job title, for example “assistant (M/F)”.
- Only retain criteria that are essential, legitimate and proportionate to the role.
02Choose a clear job title
Use simple, relevant words that candidates understand immediately. Avoid internal jargon and ambiguous abbreviations.
03Describe the vacancy carefully
Present the organisation briefly, then describe the role, main duties and expected results. A job description is an excellent working basis.
- Required education, experience and technical skills;
- Expected personal qualities and ways of working;
- Application process, deadline, benefits and, where relevant, salary range.
04Make it credible and easy to read
A concise and well-structured vacancy makes essential information easy to identify and builds candidate confidence.
- Highlight key information and use the employer’s visual identity appropriately.
- Address candidates directly, with clear and respectful wording.
- Publish only a real, available, dated and verifiable vacancy.
The final checklist
A final review prevents misunderstandings and saves time during screening.
- Clear and inclusive title
- Accurate duties and profile
- Contract, location and deadline stated
- Application instructions are complete
- No discriminatory or private-life criteria
- Information is real and verifiable
